Welcome to EASY VEGAN FOOD!
My name is Bronte and I've been vegan for about 5 years.
Easy Vegan Food has been a long time coming for me. It all started when I created an Instagram page @easy_vegan about 4 years ago (when I transitioned from vegetarian to vegan), and I posted recipes and photos of the vegan meals I'd made at home.
I remember the day I created @easy_vegan… I had made the most delicious lentil patty burger with sliced potato, guac and lots of salad, and posted it on my personal Instagram account. Someone commented that I only post food now, so I decided to create an account dedicated to my food creations with recipes included, so people who were as clueless as me in the kitchen could make something delicious and cruelty-free.
Fast forward 5 or so years, and thousands of people follow my page for food inspiration and guidance, which is a huge honour! Over that time, the page’s following has grown to 10,000 people from all over the world. I post honest, homemade vegan food that’s relatively easy to make.
I never had a natural flair for cooking and creating like some people do, but started learning to cook as I went by experimenting and pairing my favourite flavours together. I took other recipes, veganised them or changed them slightly to suit my taste- adding or removing ingredients, and using different herb and spice combinations to get it just right. In my opinion, trial and error is the handiest cooking tool, and has taught me everything I now know.
Now, I’m launching EASY VEGAN FOOD component meals to share with you all. The first range is ‘mac and cheese’, ‘butter chicken’, ‘spaghetti bolognese’ and curry laksa. They are all 100% vegan, using only dry ingredients in each meal. The idea is that you add a few simple wet ingredients (like nut milk or diced tomatoes) and some veggies, cook for 10-20 minutes, and the meal is ready!
As a vegan, quick and easy meals are very hard to find in supermarkets as a lot of the meals available have dairy or eggs, and some meals have shrimp pastes or fish sauce.
These meals originate from recipes I make at home myself and have served to friends and family. I’m hoping that creating easy, cruelty-free component meals will encourage those who still consume animal products to branch out and give compassionate eating a try.
